Bloemfontein's Brightest Young Sparks To Battle It Out For Title Of Nickelodeon Genius 2017

Bloem’s brightest kids are set to battle it out in the upcoming Bloemfontein heat of Nickelodeon’s Genius brought to you by ABSA.

Smart kids aged 11-16 from schools throughout the region will be joining in an interactive workshop at the Naval Hill Planetarium, Bloemfontein, on 21-22 September as Nickelodeon and ABSA challenge kids to get in touch with their inner geniuses.

Commented Tasania Parsadh, Channel Director, Nickelodeon, Africa, “We are very excited to be here in the Free State, and to be bringing Nickelodeon’s Genius to the wizkids of Bloemfontein. We are expecting a colourful, loud, exciting and fun-packed 2 days with our contestants.”

All the participants will enjoy a challenging two days, where they will have to complete a variety of challenges including maths quizzes, experiments and problem solving tasks. Time will be their biggest enemy, as the trios of bright young teens and pre-teens go head-to-head in mind bending battles of wits and smarts.

At the end of the 2 days, two teams from Bloemfontein will make it through to the Nickelodeon Genius TV series, where they they will go up against teams from all over South Africa.  The two qualifying teams will each win a R50,000 ABSA MegaU account  and R10,000 worth of books from Cambridge Publishing.

Nickelodeon’s Genius is powered by ABSA MegaU, and supported by the Government’s Department of Basic Education (DBE) and the Department of Science and Technology (DST).  The ultimate winners will receive a R100,000 ABSA MegaU account for each member of the winning team and an unforgettable visit to NASA’s Kennedy Space Centre in Florida, USA - where they will eat lunch with a real, live astronaut – and a trip to Universal Studios!
